MN ACS Awards Meeting

Title : From Photochromic Molecules to Wine: Undergraduate Research Driving Curriculum Innovation

Abstract : This talk explores how undergraduate research in my lab has fostered curriculum development in organic chemistry. We'll delve into a range of student projects, from the synthesis of photochromic molecules to the discovery of novel antibiotics. We'll see how these research findings directly impacted the creation of new content for our organic spectroscopy course. Additionally, the talk will detail the development and implementation of an organic chemistry course in Rome, Italy. Finally, we'll explore how this program evolved into a new summer study abroad course focused on the fascinating world of wine chemistry.

Cost: $10/person. Pay online or in-person on arrival. The award winners and their spouses don't need to pay. 50 and 60 years national ACS members who are being honored in this meeting and their spouses don't need to pay.
